September – October 2014
Please join us for this important multi-chamber Women in Business Luncheon.
Special guest author and lecturer, Donna Palomba will speak on Violence Against Women.
After a brutal home invasion and sexual assault in 1993, Donna transformed her life, moving from victim to warrior to survivor, changing police policy and Connecticut state law along the way.
Please join us to hear how in 2007 Donna founded Jane Doe No More, Inc., a national non-profit dedicated to improving the way society responds to victims of sexual assault through education, awareness, advocacy, and support. Her story is one of “hope and perseverance, and bears
witness to the fact that good will ultimately triumph over evil”. Donna believes that we learn most from our greatest challenges, and will share the lessons she learned. Click here to register.
Shoreline Greenway Trail’s ‘First Saturday’ Walk in September will offer walkers the chance to watch and meet members of the Madison Art Society. Artists will set up their easels along the trail en plein air and hikers may stop and watch and talk with the artists. Later in the day, there will be a reception and exhibition of the completed, framed trail scenes at Friends & Co. Restaurant, 11 Boston Post Road, Madison.
Denali Run the Gauntlet
Announcing the Third Annual Run the Gauntlet 5K Obstacle Course Race!
Over 600 participants are expected at Denali’s Third Annual 5K Run the Gauntlet race Sunday, September 28, 2014 at Hammonasset Beach State Beach Park in Madison, CT. Participants will attempt to conquer 14 obstacles, including cargo net crawls, high walls, tire crossings, planks and a water run, all while running 3.1 miles along the Hammonasset Beach shore.
Due to the event’s popularity we will be having three heats of runners going off at 9AM, 10AM, and 11AM. After the race participants and spectators can enjoy a post-race beach party with food from Old World Pizza Truck, an awards ceremony, and live music. All finishers over 21 receive two free beers from Thimble Island Brewing Company. The first 600 registered runners receive a technical running shirt.
Get your friends and form a team for our Team Challenge. Team categories include Family, Corporate, CrossFit, and Open divisions. Teams must have a minimum of 3 runners who all run in the same heat. For more information about Denali Run the Gauntlet, please visit www.gauntletraces.com.
