When I found out my husband and I were leaving life behind in Hoboken, NJ to live in Madison, CT my biggest concern was making new friends. We were used to nights out in Manhattan, where we only socialized with people we knew. Our first date night out in Madison we were pleasantly surprised to be welcomed by staff and patrons at the Madison Wine Shop and later by fellow diners at Moxie. I joined the Madison Newcomers Club and became acquainted with local establishments and fellow residents at their monthly events. A year later we were surrounded by new friends on Friday nights at the Surf Club. I now know whether you are visiting or deciding to move here full time, the residents in Madison are always ready to welcome a newcomer.

Wine Tasting and Pizza
Brush up on your vino knowledge at Madison Wine Exchange with weekly wine tastings from 6:30pm-7:30pm, on Wednesday nights. For info check their website here. Afterward take a short drive on Boston Post Road to share thin crust pie at Red Tomato Pizzeria.

Lunch and Treasure Hunting
Dine at Elizabeth’s Café on gourmet lunch complete with wine and cocktails. Once satisfied stroll between Boston Post Road and Wall Street to find treasures at unique spots like Audubon Shop, J. Horton, and Creations. Explore on foot or check Madison Chamber of Commerce website for a full listing of shops.

Fancy Night Out
